Adoption Update Part II
We only have four more pieces of paperwork needed to complete our adoption paperwork!!!! We are hoping to mail off two pieces of paperwork on Monday. Once these are turned in, we then start to compile our dossier which goes to Guatemala and allows for the adoption of our child to begin and hopefully get a referral very soon!!!!!
Our baby will be legally adopted before we go to pick he/she up the second time. We then will readopt the baby once we are back home in Illinois. I don't really know what that entails because we just gave some paperwork to our attorney and met her at the Daley Center one day in May of 2001. It was very exciting...Hup even wore a suit! We ate Chicago style hot dogs after we saw the judge. He was Irish...I mean I did say we were in Chicago!
As we walked on that cold, windy and rainy day (yes in May) we entered some walkways which take you underground to various government buildings in Chicago. We ended up far from the lunch area even though I knew the way. We came up the stairs in the building my Grandma worked in for many years. Tears welled up in my eyes for I took it as sign she knew about Boo and Hup...she never met them during her earthly life...but in heaven she knows them.
Thank you all for your prayers and kind comments as we journey towards our child. Adoption has been my life's greatest blessing. I say greatest blessing because it came after our heaviest cross.
I feel through adoption I have control over my family. Each piece of paper, check written, email and meeting with our counselor brings my closer and closer to our child....each prayer, rosary, Mass, candle lit makes the journey smoother...it is my labor...I just have to keep on pushing.
